For those in industries that require a special kind of authentication to go with their digital signatures, Revver has the answer. Multi-factor authentication through Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA) and One Time Passcode (OTP) are now available with Revver’s eSignature feature. These methods help you better meet strict compliance and security standards.
How It Works
Knowledge-Based Authentication utilizes information from a third-party to generate a set of questions based on the recipient’s personal identifying information that they must answer before fulfilling the eSignature request. Answers about the recipient are pulled from public information databases. For example, it will require the recipient to identify an address where they previously lived.
To require KBA on an eSignature, you must provide the recipient’s social security number and date of birth. When receiving the eSignature request, the user must input both of these numbers before answering the question. They must also give legal consent to sign with eSignature.
Many compliance standards and regulatory bodies require KBA for electronic signatures, including the IRS.

One Time Passcode generates a random code that the recipient receives via text message that they must input before fulfilling the eSignature request. You must input the recipient’s phone number. The code will be sent once the recipient accepts the required legal consent to sign with eSignature. The recipient’s regular SMS rates will apply.
Signer Intent is an option that can apply to either KBA or OTP requests. This option requires signers to create a password before they sign. They must enter this password to complete the signature and must use it in order to access the signed document again.
